One of the biggest draws to Clearwater FL has just recently come about. Her name is Winter, and she is a true inspiration to us all. And did I mention that she’s a dolphin? Winter was a 3 month old baby dolphin who was rescued by the staff of the Clearwater Aquarium when she was found tangled in a crab trap at Mosquito Lagoon, FL. She had serious injuries that eventually led to her losing her tail.

Because of the love and dedication from the staff at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, as well as the amazing creation of Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics, Inc., Winter was given a prosthetic tail. Because of the delicate skin of a dolphin, a special gel was created to go under her prosthetic tail. Winter’s gel has now changed the world of prosthetics.

This little dolphin that could is a true inspiration to us all. You may have heard of her movie, Dolphin Tale, which was out in theaters in 2011. It featured actors such as Morgan Freeman, and Harry Connick Jr. You can visit Winter at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, as well as other dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, and more.
