Dunedin FL

The gorgeous City of Dunedin FL is a well loved town that was rated “Best Walking Town in America” by The Walking Magazine. This is thanks to the conveniently located Pinellas Trail that runs through downtown Dunedin, as well as the great atmosphere of this special town.

It is located in Pinellas county. Aside from the trail, Dunedin FL has much more to offer. It is home to the award-winning Caladesi Island and Honeymoon Island. If you want to see Florida at its finest, visit these beautiful, natural beaches.

The Dunedin Causeway is another common destination for residents of the city. The causeway is lined with small beaches. It can be used for fishing, kayaking, and relaxing, of course! If you’re looking for a fun activity for the day, kayaks can be rented right from the Dunedin Causeway.

A favorite place in the city of Dunedin is its downtown area. It contains quaint shops, and many well-known restaurants in the area such as The Black Pearl, Cafe Alfresco, and Casa Tina. Main Street is used throughout the year to host many events like art festivals, Mardi Gras, and even a 9 day Highland Games and festival to celebrate the Scottish heritage of Dunedin. These events are great entertainment for residents and visitors.

Dunedin FL has many parks to enjoy including Hammock Park, a 90 acre natural park. There is also Highlander Park, a 70 acre park with many opportunities for activities. Weaver Park is a new addition to the wonderful city. It is a waterfront park, with breathtaking views. These are only a few of the many great parks for family fun.

The jewel of the crown for parks in the area is definitely Honeymoon Island State Park. With preserved natural areas, a nature center, areas to picnic and lovely beaches, it’s a must visit. They even have a wonderful beach devoted to pets and their people.

Dogs, dogs, dogs!

Dogs are a large part of the Dunedin culture. Dunedin got the nickname “Dogedin” when a huge mural was painted of residents’ dogs in the downtown (even some cats are in the trees!). It was created as a fundraiser for the city’s “Dunedin Doggie Rescue”, an organization with a true love for animals. Some dog-friendly activities in Dunedin are visiting Happy Tails Dog Park, or the dog beach at Honeymoon Island. After, you can take them with you while you enjoy a meal at one of Dunedin’s many dog-friendly restaurants.
